What’s on the Menu?

I love planning holiday meals. Holidays are not complete without incredible food, and I love being able to create that experience for my family. It’s my artistic outlet for me and it adds to our overall family culture. I just love it.

Tyler and I have some friends that we always share a text chain about recipes whenever a holiday is near. It’s so fun to share this joint passion with these dear friends. I look forward to seeing what recipes they have decided to try. It’s inspiring to learn about other family’s cherished traditions. So, I thought, why don’t I share my plans with you and I’d be thrilled to hear what you’re going to do!

Here is this year’s Easter Menu:

I had too much fun making this menu. Even the goofiest little sketch in your journal makes a great memento of a special occasion.

Cooking Schedule: A planned cooking schedule prevents us from feeling overwhelmed or scrambling in the kitchen.

Saturday Afternoon

We will start on Saturday by assembling the French Toast Bake and Egg and Sausage Casserole. I will let the kids make the Carrot Cake with me on Saturday as well. Just a side note, I have been working hard lately to solicit help from the kids in the kitchen. Often it would be easier and more peaceful to do it myself, but I’m feeling this internal nudge to teach and include them; frankly, they love it when I do. They have the interest and I know how valuable it is for them to have confidence in the kitchen. Plus, it’s quality time together.

Sunday Morning:

After Breakfast (and my first gargantuan coffee after 35 days of no coffee), I will start the Brioche Rolls and get the lamb in the oven.

After Church:

Tyler will get in the kitchen with me and from this point we will tag team till dinner.

  • Silver Palate Cookbook Asparagus Parm Souffle
  • Roasted Carrots. I can’t find our recipe. It was taken offline. Tyler makes these in a pan on the stove. He fries the carrots in butter, with maple syrup, balsamic, mint, and salt.
  • Scalloped Potatoes go into the oven
  • Make gravy from Lamb drippings.

I don’t worry anymore if things don’t go perfectly. We try for Michelin star, but when it comes down to it, no matter what, we are going to turn on some beautiful music, light the candles, and enjoy a magical Easter together!

Please, feel free to share your Easter plans in the comments below! I get so inspired by the conversation!

I’m Audrey

I’m a wife, and mother of five. We live in a beautiful 1877 New York Victorian townhouse with all the glamour of the 19th century Gilded Age. Our home is where we do school and life and we still pinch ourselves that we get to live here. My husband and I have spent the 14 years of our marriage cultivating a space of love, joy, and beauty for our family to thrive! I invite you to peek into our ongoing journey of making this house our heaven on earth.
